This is just as true regards web page design, as it is the design of our clothes. As more and more of us join the Twitter family of micro-bloggers, selecting the right backgrounds for Twitter is becoming increasingly important.
Backgrounds For Your Twitter Profile
When followers, (or more importantly; potential followers), first view your Twitter page, the first impression will of course be the background. Having only seconds to make an impression therefore; it is paramount that you get your key information across. Take a look at our customizable Twitter background, which is a retro tribute to the Wanted Posters of the Old West.
Twitter themselves has of course done most of the groundwork for you and, the background selection they invite you to look through is, whilst not extensive, well presented and laid out.
Customizing A Twitter Background
For those wanting to express our individuality however, (and really, that is why we are bloggers is it not?), is a simple process to customize backgrounds for Twitter.
Using Your New Twitter Background
Possibly the easiest way to set your background is simply uploading an image directly from your computer. Head for the settings page, (really not hard to find), and select Design / Change Background Image.
You can select to have your image used in a single shot, which will be modified to take up the entire page. Alternatively, you can tile the image. Which option you choose will be based on your own judgment of course, though it should also be driven by picture quality.
Other areas of your background can also be modified; including the sidebar, whilst your color scheme can also be amended to make things more corporate, (complete with your logo), if you are using Twitter as a business tool.
Backgrounds for Twitter should present you, and what you feel to the world. Take some time thinking about what suits you, rather than rushing to replace the Twitter offerings with something below standard. Take the time to increase your online social profile with a custom Twitter background.
