If your partner is a reader and enjoys literature and poetry there are many options for you.  You can obviously get her a novel or a book from her favorite author.  This will undoubtedly be a winner but lets try to come up with something a little more original.  Now days depending on which city you live in or the size of the city you live in you can usually find many pubs or cafes which have literature readings.  Local poetry readings are a great choice and, again usually, very inexpensive if not free.  You can take an afternoon on the weekend and take a walk down to your favorite park.  Perhaps take a stroll through your neighborhood before stopping off at your favorite place for lunch.  Eat a nice relaxing lunch together and then  continue on to the cafe for a romantic poetry reading and a cappuccino.  Spend the afternoon together.  Ultimately that will be what she wants the most.

So as you can see, it is not difficult to get a great gift for your girlfriend even if your budget is low. Just try to remember little things she likes doing and then think of an idea that can be presented as a gift. The idea here is to spend time together and feel romantic and free even if you are together for a long time. Women appreciate small gestures so always compliment the gift with flowers or a nice word.
