Hi Mark, Your latest videos are indeed very different and you are much more relaxed. i did not make the connection with nervousness. and honestly thought you were just hungry. I prolly need one of your pre-integration integration courses .Thank you for the reply and the very informative videos on a really interesting subject. Good luck!

This was the first video I made some time ago and was nervous hence dry lips. This is universal – excuse the sounds, I don’t think I do these in my more recent ones eshi?

    Hi Leeshan,

Cultural issues are of course important and also embodied. Other things are universal. I lived in Ethiopia briefly and saw things that were different (e.g. the body language when listening) and many things that were the same.

so I hope you see what I mean Mr. Mark Walsh. it is possible you may have to develop, a pre- integration “integration” training course to get everyone on the same cultural page. sorry to be pedantic or sound like a smart ass. It may well be that you were very hungry when you recorded this video or maybe did not want to which would explain the smacking and tutting. tongue and lips :) Were you hungry? was there some food waiting for you off screen? By the way, I am Ethiopian., we know about hun

Please allow me to give you an example of what i mean, taken from this video. To those from mainstream culture, the message is clear, there is no distraction.. But if watched from another cultural perspective (in which, because of English being a second language, one relies more on body language),one is forced 2 focus on the nonverbal sounds made). the smacking of lips and sucking of teeth in the video is distracting. This can be very insulting or indicate you are very hungry in some cultures. .

It is an innovative, most probably correct approach, & yes, common sense. however..the problem lies not in the observation or inclusion of previously ignored factors like body language and non verbal factors BUT IN THEIR INTERPRETATION. In this globalized world where work forces/office staff are made up of people from different cultures how to apply a standardized system for interpreting body language & nonverbal expressions? Is there a UNIVERSAL HUMAN biologically inevitable set of reactions?
