Everyone is looking for love. No one likes being the only single at a table full of couples, and no one wants to send themselves valentine chocolate just so they won’t be the only ones not getting anything. Some people believe in that fairytale happily ever after ending, while others… Don’t. For those stuck in the middle and willing to catch love when it comes their way, there are dozens of different avenues to look into.
The club scene, the bar scene, the park and library scenes. The dating pool is wide and varied and not always reliable. In fact some of us don’t have time for it, what with work, kids, or other responsibilities. Or maybe we’re nervous about searching for that elusive fish that everyone is always telling us is still swimming around in our sea of prospects. For those of us out there who happen to like the same sex, the choices are even more limited.
Online dating can be just as tricky as the real thing, but it has its benefits. For instance a lot of possible mates have yet to come out of the proverbial closet. While the ones who have, have fallen so far into the stereotype of what it is to be a ‘gay’ man or ‘gay’ woman that they are often a turn off in and of themselves. So to find the middleman, the one that isn’t too extreme but still honest and proud about who they are, involves grueling and sometimes endless searching.
There so much room for error that often it may feel as if it isn’t worth it. Heterosexuals have it hard yes, what with finding someone with the same interests in and out of bed, someone they can connect mind to mind with. Most of the time they don’t succeed and that’s with having more than half the world’s population playing for their team.
While we may be able to delegate this massive failure to lack of competence, it doesn’t change the fact that some of this can only be attributed to natural incompatibility.
So it makes sense why it would be harder for someone apart of the GLBT community to find an acceptable mate. Online dating allows people looking for the same thing to congregate together and sort of check each other out. With gay online dating websites, you can get all of the pertinent facts up front.
How old, age, height, marriage status and criminal record. The great thing is that since you’re already on the internet, if they lied about anything you can simply Google them. Either way, be aware that just as in real life, cyber dating takes just as much courage as in real life. More in fact since you’re basing an entire relationship on the power of someone’s words rather than their looks. It can either let you see the real them or the lengths to which they will carry their lies. Persevere either way, because we all get burned once in a while and until the time comes when the fire’s no longer as hot, then keep on trying. You’re efforts will bear fruit eventually.
